NEW FREE FranKo track
Bearing in mind what I have been posting on here about delivery, we thought it was about time we did a bit of an experiment to see how the social networks are performing for us…
You need to grab the attention first - did the above title do it for ya?
We have posted on Twitter and Facebook that, in order to stay on the mailing list (and be sent said free track), you need to send CP (me -...
Re: Delivery
Thanks for the answers below, 1xrosax1, GlimmeringGirl & Justbeckyd. Can’t figure out how to reply in the chain, so will do so here!
“If music is good people will listen :)” - how true.
I think if music is undeniable, lots of music lovers MUST listen. But the problem is still delivery. Yes, word of mouth is great, and converting people at live shows is great and I also...
Delivery
Q: You have the greatest album recorded in recent times. It’s on a shelf somewhere. What is the best way to ask people to take a listen - to see if they agree?
Things to think about before answering:
Every band think they have this. And if they don’t, they should give up. Very few actually do. Have it, that is. Or give up!
Everyone is on Twitter and Facebook.
When it’s a...

Set aside 10 mins and enjoy this epic vid and song.
29 seconds of ‘If Today’
Water Rats, TDF
So that nice Dan Hetherton invited us to play with TDF, which we did last night :)
Thanks to those who braved the traffic and the heatwave!
Pitchfork & 10 Feet are starting to fit into the set as second nature. Speak Up sounds like an old friend.
EOTS kicked butt, Nobody Knows and TAB rocked it.
Nice warm up gig for tour next month :)
Hoping to see some familiar faces out...
When everyone is shouting...
I remember July 13th 1985 well. I was stood in the old Wembley Stadium watching just about every artist I had ever wanted to see play live right in front of me. One after the other. Live. In front of me. Queen. Bowie. The Who. Elton. Ultravox. Boomtown Rats…
Live Aid.
That’ll never happen again. Queued all night when the tickets went on sale. One of the greatest days of my life. The...
21st May - the beginnings of a story
FranKo rehearsed yesterday, getting ready for June.
Every story has a beginning, a middle and an end. The good ones do, anyway.
So have a good story, and tell it well. Plan, work out when to reveal what, decide colour, shape, form. What language are you going to use?
FranKo are hard at it. Ricky is finishing off at his school, then he’ll have more free time. We’re all looking...
15th May
OK, the cat’s out of the bag. A bit.
The newsletter has gone out today admitting that the next few live shows will be the last we do for a bit.
There’s the ones on frankoband.com and Facebook, and that’s about it. Then there’s that one in November with the lovely Dave Giles, which lets everyone know that there are no problems with FranKo.
But it’s all going on.

I just heard a new song...
… a new FranKo song.
100 mph, and all the better for it. Unlike anything they have ever done before.
And clocking in at just 88 seconds, it is strangely UNDENIABLE.
Succeeding at exceeding.
I had to ring them the second I heard it to tell them that.
fishcanswiminwater asked: I can't believe you got a video of Tommy wearing my hat. oh my god. Happy days :3 i feel so special now. -how sad. aha :3
Young Musician of the Year
Did you see it? BBC4 7.30pm yesterday…
If not, why not?!
Catch it on i-Player… I’ll post the link in a mo.
Ricky (and his lil’ bro) were amazing, as were Rich and Chris on drums and bass respectively. Tommy & I cheered real loud from the audience.
Very proud of them ALL.
Ricky on Young Muso of the Year (w/Rich n Chris) →
The last song of the last date with THT. Nice hat.
THT tour: Final date, London, Garage
Happy Christmas (Tour is Over)! I am famous for my bad punnery.
And so THT and FKo go their separate ways. This has been the happiest and slickest tour yet for FranKo. I think we are just getting better at doing them, and THT are lovely tour-mates. Generous, kind, professional - lovely.
Huge thanks to everyone who came to see us, of course. And to our friends in Manchester and Nottingham for...
"Lucky"
Luck, timing, geography, scent…
When the stars align…
That, and a wealth of graft and writing and writing and writing and practicing and practicing.
Make. It. Undeniable.
Good isn’t good enough.
If music was an exact science, everybody would be able to do it. Hell, you could programme a machine to write classic material.
You don’t have to sing in tune, you...
THT tour: Day 5: Brighton, Hydrant
Never played here before, but would like to again. Venue peopled by lovely folk, FranKo welcomed with beer and pizza. Sound guy is terrific…
One of the support bands is fronted by a genuine maniac, and he peppers their set with expletive-ridden stream-of-consciousness rants. It’s odd, but makes an impression. Not the right kind with everyone possibly, but an impression nonetheless.

THT tour: Day 4: Guildford
THT arrive at the venue at the same time as us, looking relaxed - they are familiar with the Community Centre and know the ropes. They ARE a great bunch of people - calm, professional, friendly - a pleasure to tour with. Their shows are remarkable in their consistency, too - which is a sign of seasoned veterans, despite their tender years!
My heart skipped a few beats on the drive there. Little...
An awesome lunch...
We sat round a table with Tommy’s family and had a Sunday roast a day early.
Wonderful lunch, wonderful situation.
Put me in mind of the awesome cooked breakfast/brunch/lunch situation we had at the Ws in Nottingham - the FKo family is a great place to be…
Just a culinary aside :)
THT tour: Day 3: Birmingham, Unplug
A rainy-grim Thursday, and the gig that we weren’t able to announce until Monday is not very well attended, sadly. It was made tougher by seeing fans in the queue to the venue next door to see Twenty Twenty & Room 94. Respect and big thanks to the people that made it along. You made up for, in enthusiasm, what we lacked in numbers :)
It certainly didn’t dent either FranKo or...
That strange moment when...
…you realise that music is so important to you that it can make you laugh, cry, turn into a field of goosebumps, reminisce…
It’s marking out your time on this earth, an adrenal rush, it IS the soundtrack, literally, to your life.
Just as a film’s soundtrack augments the action when it’s good music, so can great music alter your take on your reality. You share...
THT tour: Day 2, Liverpool
We take kind benefactors in Manchester out for lunch, thank them, and we’re on our way to the ‘Pool. Only the second time we’ve ever been there.
We roll up at The Picket, only for Rich to remember he needs to get guitar strings. We shoot into town and fetch some with 5 mins before closing time. Nice.
The Picket looks unpromising, set, as it is, in an industrial estate. Never...
Have you seen The Ring? The Grudge? Not as scary as Ricky in his ‘walking turd’ sleeping bag…
THT tour: Day 1, Manchester
OK, so the Dry Bar kicks off our tour - the second half of The Hype Theory’s UK tour. They seem like a great bunch, and have a strong vocalist and tight, slick show. The venue is good, too - a great sound out front - and everyone thinks it’s the best Manc sound we’ve had since 2009.
Nice to see some familiar faces there, as ever.
And one very kind person lets us stay at...
